As most know, anytime that exhaust or air filter changes are made to a fuel injected bike a tune or remap is required to insure that the bike will maintain fuel economy, performance, and most of all engine safety. If these changes are not made you run the risk of having the bike run too lean or too rich which can potentially can cause engine issues. Basically what a fuel manager does is this, the bike comes from the factory with air/fuel mixture settings that were set for stock pipes so when you change the pipes and filter the stock settings do not work well with the new parts. By installing a fuel manager you are basically reconfiguring the bikes fuel system so that it will run the most efficient and maintain an even air/fuel mixture across the rpm range.
The motive behind the development of the fuel manager was to have a plug-and-play unit that could be installed at home in less than one hour. With a majority of fuel managers on the market you are required to take the bike into the dealership and have the unit installed and programmed or tuned. In most cases a dyno machine is used to program the unit by creating map tables to accomodate the pipes and hi-flo air filter. Usually this takes an additional 2 hours which means extra $$$. We wanted a complete exhaust package that is a do-it-yourself installation where you didn't have to spend extra money on tuning and installation. Within 2 hours you can have your pipes, air filter, and fuel manager installed and ready to ride. The unit was designed specifically for the TAB Pipes however it can be used with any manufacturers pipes.
The fuel tuner is pre-programmed with 10 custom designed maps that were made for all of the TAB Pipes. There is a pot or dial that has 10 settings and you basically turn the dial to the corresponding number that matches you bike and pipes (instructions have the descriptions) and then install the unit. Installation is relatively easy. You basically plug the unit into the bikes 2 fuel injection plugs, install one wire tap, and then ground unit to bike. There are very clear and descriptive instructions that contains photos and step by step details that comes with the unit. For those of you who like to tweak your bikes, the unit also has 3 (low-med-high) air/fuel pots that allow you to fine tune your bike.
