TAB Talks: The 4 Stages of Performance Modifications

Bikers are constantly seeking ways to make their bikes better, cooler, and more enjoyable to ride. One way they do this is by modifying their engine performance in a process commonly referred to as "Staging-Up". This involves making specific modifications to improve performance and overall appearance.

Let's take a quick look at each of the stages.

Stage 1: The Stage 1 upgrade is often considered the first step towards unlocking a motorcycle's potential. This upgrade is all about boosting your bike's intake and exhaust systems. By adding a high-flow air filter and upgrading the exhaust, you'll get better airflow and a more efficient engine. The outcome? More power, quicker throttle response, and a beastly exhaust sound.

----------

Stage 2 - Cam it Up!: Ready to take your performance to the next level? The Stage 2 upgrade goes beyond what Stage 1 offers, delivering even more power gains. Alongside the intake and exhaust improvements, this upgrade includes swapping out the stock camshaft for a high-performance alternative. With optimized valve timing, you'll experience increased power at every RPM. Get ready for better acceleration, quicker passing, and overall improved performance.

----------

Stage 3 - Volume Up!: Not only do you get all the awesome mods from Stage 1 and 2, but Stage 3 takes things to a whole new level. We're talking engine upgrades, like beefed-up pistons, connecting rods, and cylinder heads. These babies optimize combustion efficiency and give you a bigger engine, resulting in some serious power gains. Just remember, to support all that extra power, you might need to make some additional upgrades, like better brakes and suspension.

-----------

Stage 4: This is where things get serious. We're talking major customization and modifications that take your ride to the next level - aftermarket turbochargers or superchargers, stroker kits, and more badass high-performance components. With the Stage 4 upgrade, you'll be rocking a race-ready machine that's got insane power, speed, and handling. Just a heads up though, this isn't for beginners. You'll need some serious mechanical skills and safety smarts to handle these extreme mods. But if you're up for the challenge, get ready for the ride of your life!

So, which one's the perfect stage for you? Well, that's a tough question. See, what I enjoy in a ride and how I want it to feel might be totally different from you and/or your friend's preferences. Our top suggestion is to trust your gut feeling or your, uhm, "butt" dyno. Just take it for a spin - if you love the way it feels and sounds, then don’t change it. But if it's lacking something you want, don't be afraid to make that change.
